MYC4 - Your tool for change
From the site:
“MYC4 is an online marketplace that connects people from all over the world – just like you – with African entrepreneurs, who lack capital to develop their businesses. In Africa, the access to capital and knowledge is scarce, but with the Internet as infrastructure, we bridge the gap between people with needs and people with means. Our mission is to create prosperity for all.
MYC4 wants to end poverty through business. And we want to become your tool for making a change – and a profit – by investing in African businesses with the power to turn dreams into reality. We believe that the source to long-term, sustainable development comes from business development and economic growth. Therefore, we want to remove barriers that keep people in poverty and facilitate a marketplace for a free flow of capital and knowledge.
Through a transparent bidding process on the MYC4 marketplace, you can help one or several African entrepreneurs lift themselves out of poverty. You determine the amount you want to invest and your interest rate. The investors, who offer the most attractive interest rates, “win” the opportunity to invest – just like an auction.
MYC4 focuses on Sub-Saharan countries, since poverty is more severe here than in any other part of the world. We want to serve as a catalyst for those who have been kept outside the banking orbit being poor and hence not creditworthy. Just consider the fact that the far majority of these people have the willpower to change their fate and fight poverty.
Our vision is a world without poverty where everyone has the same access to knowledge, markets and capital”.

The perfect T-shirt
The Perfect T-shirt Project was a self initiated project by Better Thinking, an ethical branding consultancy, which attempted to create the most sustainable and ethical t-shirt possible.
After two years of research, the product was launched as a co-production between Better Thinking and John Smedley, the English knitwear company.
The t-shirt is made using organic, rain fed cotton which has been grown and spun in Peru. It is then knitted and hand finished by John Smedley, who have been making fine quality knitwear for 200 years in their factory in Derbeyshire, UK.
